Our Commitment to Representation

At Radio Starr, we believe music should reflect the full spectrum of voices in our community.

That’s why we pledge that 50%+ of our output will feature female, underrepresented and global majority voices in our shows, playlists, and events.

This isn’t just a number. It’s a promise to:

Platform artists and hosts who are often overlooked.

Create space for new voices to be heard.

Make our station a place of fairness, discovery, and connection.

We know representation is ongoing work. We review our output regularly, share our progress openly, and keep listening to our community.

Radio Starr – Inclusion & Representation Charter

1. Our Commitment

Radio Starr exists to platform voices that are too often underrepresented in the music industry. We pledge that 50%+ of our output will feature female and underrepresented voices. This applies across our shows, events, and playlists.

2. Why Representation Matters

Music and broadcasting shape culture. We believe our role is not just to reflect our community, but to actively rebalance who gets heard and celebrated. This strengthens creativity, community, and fairness.

3. How We Monitor

To uphold this commitment, we:

Invite hosts and contributors to complete an optional monitoring form.

Track playlists and airtime to measure representation.

Report anonymised statistics to funders, sponsors, and the public.

4. Respecting Choice & Privacy

Contributors are never required to disclose personal information.

Monitoring forms are optional and anonymised in reporting.

All data is stored securely in line with our [Data Safety & Privacy Policy].

5. Accountability

Representation is reviewed quarterly by the Radio Starr team.

Progress is shared annually with our community and partners.

If we fall short, we will adjust programming and outreach to meet our pledge.

6. Beyond the Numbers

We also commit to:

Seeking out new and emerging voices.

Offering training and mentorship to underrepresented contributors.

Ensuring diversity in our team, collaborators, and decision-making.
